She has collaborated with over 80 celebrated artists and writers, including Jim Dine, Shepard Fairey, Robert Ryman and Kiki Smith. She founded Line Press Limited in 2018 in Brooklyn to pursue artist books and small scale print editions. Her work can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Getty, the Brooklyn Museum, The Walker Museum, as well as over 35 libraries, including the New York Public Library and the Harvard University Library.
“Print shows are an excellent venue to showcase our wonderful range of printmaking techniques to the public. I’ve tried to choose examples of both traditional and innovative techniques, as I personally appreciate both. Traditional techniques of intaglio and lithography include landscapes, portraiture and still lifes, many involving beautiful, layered color and disciplined execution. Nontraditional prints include large scale works, sculptural and collaged prints, many incorporating a strong message combined with an overall feeling of experimentation.
“Viewers will see delicate, intimate, highly detailed prints all the way up to large-scale, graphically impactful prints. I believe this viewing experience adds so much interest to a group show. I also searched for prints which seem to perfectly marry the choice of technique to the imagery or concept, equally balancing both.
I hope this show will inspire and energize viewers, and reflect the diversity, joy and magic of printmaking, both to other printmakers, artists and beyond into the world.” - Ruth Lingen
